The All New Gen 4 Lucas Creek Soft shell Rooftop Tent in Natural Green is the result of 9 years of refinement and field testing across New Zealand’s most diverse landscapes. Designed by outdoor enthusiasts, for outdoor enthusiasts, this Gen 4 model balances strength, comfort, quietness, and weather resistance in one rugged, all-season package.
We have added LED dimmable strip lights internally and externally and convienient internal 12v power to charge your devices and power accessories and a heater duct for winter camping.
At the core of the tent is our ultra-durable thermoplastic honeycomb base—a material far superior to aluminium honeycomb or sandwich panel bases. It's lightweight, flexible under load, and capable of handling over 1 tonne of pressure without denting or damage. Better yet, it acts as a natural insulator, helping reduce condensation while keeping you warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
Set up and pack down takes under 5 minutes thanks to a simple fold-out design and the inclusion of a permanent folding ladder cover pole, which supports the tent structure during poor weather and makes assembly even faster. The tent is built with 380gsm ripstop polycotton canvas and a 420D PU-coated rainfly, finished with our exclusive anti-flap rain-fly system. Unlike standard rooftop tents, this system uses velcro anchors and reinforced fly wings to reduce wind flapping and improve privacy. You can also use 2 or 4 spring poles to tension the fly depending on your conditions.
Panoramic side windows (1.6m x 60cm) provide epic views and airflow, eliminating the need for leaky sunroofs or skylights. Roll-up side awnings give you the flexibility to let in the breeze or enjoy shelter and privacy when needed. An aditional ladder cover window has beed added for extra ventilation and light.
Inside, you’ll find a 70mm high-density foam mattress with a waterproof underside and cover, along with thoughtful additions like a gear sling, 2 x large shoe pockets, and climbing safety straps. The internal frame features 25mm aluminium poles, lined and fabric-wrapped to prevent dew buildup and internal wear.
For harsh conditions, the curved roof and ladder cover pole add additional weather resistance, while the heavy-duty 1000D PVC travel cover features HD seam seals, velcro closure, easy removal or roll up - no zips to jam or fail. We've also included a monsoon pole, and stainless steel hardware for complete reliability.
